Editorial & Medical Review Policy
MediMouth exists to explain dental health in plain language and help people in Arizona find care. Because this is health information, we hold every guide to a clear standard for how it's written, reviewed, sourced, and kept current. This page explains that process.
How our guides are created and reviewed
Each guide starts as a draft built from established, authoritative dental and public-health guidance. Drafts are prepared with editorial tooling and then reviewed by a licensed dentist before they are published. Until a dentist has reviewed a guide, it stays unpublished — hidden from search and from our guides index — and is clearly marked as a draft.
Every published guide shows the name and credential of the reviewing dentist and the date it was last reviewed. If you don't see a "Medically reviewed by…" line on a guide, it is not yet published guidance and should not be relied on.
Who reviews our content
Our guides are reviewed by a licensed dentist (DDS). The reviewer checks that the guidance is accurate, safe, and consistent with mainstream dental and public-health recommendations — and that anything urgent points readers to prompt or emergency care rather than downplaying it.
Where our information comes from
We base our guidance on recognized authorities in oral and general health, and we cite them on each guide. Our primary sources include:
- American Dental Association (ADA / MouthHealthy)
- American Association of Endodontists (AAE)
- American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD)
- National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIH / NIDCR)
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- National Cancer Institute, MedlinePlus, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic
We do not invent statistics, prices, studies, or medical claims. Where a specific figure isn't supported by a cited source, we keep the guidance general and tell readers to confirm specifics with their own dentist.
Videos and further reading
Some guides include a short explanatory video or a "further reading" list. We curate these to the same standard as our own writing:
- Authoritative sources only. Any embedded video or linked article comes from a recognized health organization (such as those listed above), not from individual commentators, and is approved by the reviewing dentist as part of the guide's review.
- We link, we don't copy. Further-reading items link to the original publisher with attribution. We don't republish others' articles.
- Privacy-respecting playback. Embedded videos load only when you choose to play them, so nothing is requested from the video host until you click.
How we keep guides current
Each guide carries a last-reviewed date. We re-review guides periodically and whenever guidance changes. If a guide's content materially changes, it returns to review and is re-dated only after a dentist signs off again.
Corrections
If you spot something that seems inaccurate or out of date, please tell us at hello@medimouth.com. We take accuracy seriously, and corrections to health content are re-reviewed by a dentist before the guide is updated.
